Hello, hello. Today I have the absolute honor of bringing you an interview with an artist whom I deeply admire for both his art as well as his perseverance and tenacity. Ralph’s lettering is what struck me initially as it’s very different from the typical lettering we are accustomed to seeing on Instagram. Instead of dainty loops and swirls his lettering is filled with sharp angles and precise curves.
I will have his social media accounts linked down below. Make sure you check him out!

What’s your name and where do you live?
My name is Ralph and I live in California.
What sorts of art do you do?
I draw, paint, airbrush, and tattoo.
Which medium is your favorite?
I’d have to say that my favorite medium is pencil.

From where do you draw your inspiration?
I get a lot of my inspiration from my past.
Have you always been creative?
Yes. I used to rap and I even had two CDs released. I still have songs up on YouTube.

What has been the best thing about sharing your art on social media?
The best parts of it have been the positive feedback I’ve received and the ability to bless people with my art.
What has been the most challenging aspect of being an artist?
In prison I had nothing but time. Now that I’m a free man it’s all work and finding the time to do my art is tough.
In what ways do you feel that being an artist has had an impact on your life?
Art has helped me to keep the personal struggles I’ve had with anger, anxiety, and ADHD in check.
What has been your proudest achievement as an artist thus far?
My proudest achievement has been having people hit me up on social media to tell me that they love my art.

What words of encouragement or advice do you have for other creative guys?
Keep on putting that art out there, remember that practice is the best teacher, don’t ever give up, and push yourself.
Ralph, thank you so much for being a part of this series. I love what you said about art helping you deal with some personal struggles. Art has been such an important coping mechanism for me and I feel like it is for many, many people.
